View of Quantity Surveyor Building

The faculty of Environmental Sciences emerged in 1980 when the former college of Science and Technology was elevated to a full fledge University. Its establishment was in direct response to the various needs of a young state in developing country.

At its inception, the Faculty comprised the Departments of Land Survey, Estate Management and Quantity Survey. Professional imperatives have necessitated the establishment of two additional Departments. Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning.

With relevance and excellence as their watch words, the various Departments in the Faculty have striven to meet desired standards of the University approved programmes and also to satisfy the requirements of relevant professional bodies. Quality is ensured in the admission policy, the training of students, and in the recruitment of academic staff. The Department offers the Bachelor of Technology degree (B.Tech). in the meantime, it is the only department of Architecture that offers the Masters of Science (M.Sc) degree.
